Read the Book

There are many books to READ on manhood, but Joker to King is the only book you'll actually USE week after week.

The 52 lessons in Joker to King are organized according to the 52 playing cards in a deck, allowing you to explore healthy manhood within a full 52-week calendar year. In each chapter, you get an explanation of the lesson, a story exemplifying the lesson, and an assignment to actually put the lesson into practice. By the time you finish the entire book, you'll understand how to better manage your mind, manage your resources, manage your physical health, and manage your relationships.

  • In 2016, the first edition of Joker to King was a huge success, earning the grand prize at the Southern California Book Festival (November 2016). Many readers used the book to develop themselves as they matured into a healthier sense of manhood.

  • In 2023, after the pandemic, the second edition of Joker to King was published based on Dr. Brown’s own life transitions including divorce, new job, new home, and new marriage.

  • Now in 2026, the tenth anniversary of Joker to King is available. After ten years of working with men, leading Joker to King workshops, and using the Joker to King curriculum in college courses, the book has been revised for a final time with a greater focus on physical health, confidence, emotional mastery, and building long-lasting relationships.
